Since the seminary’s founding in 1859, biblical theology has been the bedrock foundation upon which the whole of Christian education and ministry has been built. Southern Seminary has such historical significance, and is a premier location for a couple to begin their life together.
Alumni Chapel
Completed in 1950, Ellis A. Fuller led the alumni effort to build this 1,200-seat structure. The seminary enlisted Frederick Law Olmsted’s firm to supply architects who provided guidance in the design and construction process. The cornerstone of the chapel contains a copy of the Abstract of Principles as well as photographs of the signatures of all SBTS professors who had signed the Abstract at the time of the chapel’s construction.
